Religion and ethics

A feature of the public education system in NSW is the opportunity to provide time in class for education in ethics, faith and morality from a religious or non-religious perspective at the choice of parents.

A parent/carer may at any time notify the school in writing that they wish to change their decision. Students will continue the same arrangement as the previous year, unless a parent/carer has requested a change in writing.

If your preferred SRE or SEE option is not available please contact the approved provider. Students not attending SRE or SEE are given supervised alternative meaningful activities.

The following options are available at Plattsburg Public School:

Option 1: Non-denominational Christian provided by

Catholic Diocese of Maitland Newcastle

Option 2: Students not attending SRE will participate in alternative meaningful activities.

Special Religious Education Opt-Out

Scope and sequences can be found on approved providers’ websites regarding lesson content.

SRE is organised on a fortnightly basis on Wednesdays. Lessons are of 30 minutes in duration and are delivered by approved representatives.

A parent/carer may at any time notify the school in writing that they wish to change their decision regarding SRE. Students will continue the same arrangement as the previous year, unless a parent/carer has requested a change in writing.

High potential and gifted education

At our school, we give the right support to help advanced or talented learners grow and do their best.

We notice these students early. They may learn quickly or show strong skills in creativity, leadership, problem solving or sport. We help them stay challenged with lessons and activities that match their strengths.
